Described by some as “the holy grail of Tuscany,” this unique and magical full-bodied wine features a 50-50 mix of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes were harvested in mid-September and early October, and both varietals were vinified separately before being combined. Maceration and alcoholic fermentation occurred for 21-22 days in stainless steel, after which malolactic fermentation took place in French oak barrels; the wine was then blended and spent another 20 months aging in French oak before being bottled, where it matured for another year prior to release. But the description doesn’t reflect the passion and love that Baracchi put into this wine. The nose detects fruity hints and black pepper, while the oak contributes chocolate and vanilla, which come through upon tasting it. On the palate are strong hints of licorice and cherry with traces of graham cracker and vanilla.
This rich, gorgeous wine has an elegant nose hinting at blueberry, black pepper, chocolate and toasted vanilla. Full-bodied and velvety on the palate with smooth tannins and a long, long finish.
