ABOUT MIA CHIARA

Mia CHIARA is a Sangiovese-based red wine from the Colli Senesi (koli-say-nay-zee) sub-zone of the famous Chianti region in Tuscany. Colli Senesi is one of the eight official sub-zones of the Chianti DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita), which is the highest wine quality classification in Italy.

The Colli Senesi zone is named for the area around the famous village of Siena, and encompasses the world-famous towns and vineyards of both Montepulciano and Montalcino. This is the very heartland of the Sangiovese grape, and the area of its greatest expression. Mia Chiara’s vineyards are in the Pietrose Montepulciano zone, which is on the slopes of the famous medieval village of Montepulciano.

Mia CHIARA is named after Chiara Keefe. Chiara is the daughter of Danny Keefe, the founder of Curious Cork Imports. Chiara is a popular name in Italy, and translates as “light” or “brilliance” and is a Tuscan term of endearment meaning “My Beloved.” Through their friendships with wineries and vineyard owners around their home in Cortona, the Keefes discovered a Chianti made by local growers in Montepulciano that they wanted to dedicate to their daughter and their love of Tuscany.

Tasting Notes

Deep ruby red in the glass, with a bouquet of violet, vanilla and roasted coffee. Mia Chiara is well balanced with a hint of spice and ripe red cherries on the palate. Pair with Italian or Spanish cuisine, roasted red meats, game and sausages, and grilled vegetables.
